100 Level Police Cadet Allegedly Dies Of Starvation In Kano Academy

On Saturday, 2nd September, 2023, a 100- level course 9 police cadet, A.S. Jika, was reported dead at the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, Kano State, over alleged starvation for days.

It was revealed that the deceased who hails from Adamawa State, fainted inside the toilet in the early hours of the day and was rushed to the academy’s health center, but was not attended to due to there were no medical officer on ground, and some hours later, he was pronounced died.

Elaborating the condition and treatment in the academy, some cadets accused the Commandant, Assistant Inspector-General, Sadiq Abubakar, of mismanagement and divertion of their feeding allowance.

They further revealed that students collapse daily, due to starvation and they are still being given corporal punishment in the name of training.

Confirming the allegation by the students, a staff who pleaded anonymity, affirmed that the money for the students feeding is usually diverted into private pockets by some top officials, who feel they can not do anything.
