“Appointing Me Minister Of State Is Unconstitutional “, Festus Keyamo Chides President Muhammadu Buhari

The current minister of state for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo(SAN) in a valedictory event for the outgoing administration of president Muhammadu Buhari, reminded the Nigeria’s president that the position of “minister of state”, is a breach of the Nigeria’s constitution.

He said the position of the “minister of state ” is subject to  ratification by another minister. He added that a minister of a state is also accountable to another minister; hence, not responsible for important decision and policy making. According to him, a minister of state plays a second fiddle to another minister.

In his remark, he informed president Muhammadu Buhari that his opinion is not a gesture of ingratitude to  have served as a minister of state in his administration but to correct the trend and add to the democratic advancement of the country.

Festus Keyamo is understood to be reacting to intense criticism he got from Nigerians across social platforms. He has been described as Nigeria’s worst minister since the country’s return to democracy in 1999.
