Armed Men Abducts Female Journalist In Rivers State

Some armed men Suspected to be Kidnappers have abducted a female journalist, Mrs. Priestba Anthony Nwokocha, along the Slaughter/YKC road, in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

The incident took place on Friday, July 21, 2023, around 8pm, when the victim who is the director of news at the Rivers State Broadcasting Corporation (RSBC), was coming back from work.

Her car broke down, so she contacted her husband to come along with a mechanic to repair the vehicle.

Some minutes after her husband arrival at the scene and the mechanic was working on the vehicle, some armed men arrived and whisked Mrs. Priestba away in front of her husband and the mechanic. 

However, the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Rivers State Council, through a press release that was signed by their Chairman, Stanley Job Stanley, and the secretary, Ike Wigodo, condemned the act and described it as wicked, and insensitive, especially against a journalist who is known for working for the betterment of the society.

NUJ went on to urge the state government and security agencies in the state to work together in ensuring the rescue of the victim, so she can continue her service to society.

The spokesperson of the State Police Command,  DSP Grace Irengi-Koko, revealed that the Commissioner, CP Nwonyi Emeka Polycarp, has ordered investigation into the incident and they will put in their best to ensure that the victim reunite with her family.
