Atiku Abubakar Explains Why His WAEC Result Bears The Name: Sadiq Abubakar As He Faces Forgery Allegation

The presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has explained the discrepancy in his WAEC certificate which bears a name different from what he is currently known.

Atiku Abubakar’s West African Examination Council (WAEC) Result bears the name: Sadiq Abubakar instead of Atiku Abubakar. The first runner-up in the 2019 and 2023 presidential elections faces forgery allegation amid that of Bola Ahmed Tinubu whose diploma certificate from Chicago State University remains controversial.

Recall that in a recent deposition by a Chicago court, as Atiku requested from the court, the Chicago State University registrar confirmed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s CSU Diploma Certificate which he had submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) that qualified him to contest the Nigeria’s presidential election, did not emanate from the institution.

However, in a counter allegation, Tinubu’s supporters have accused Atiku Abubakar of forging his WAEC Result.  Atiku has now offered an explanation through one of his spokespersons, Dele Momodu who explained that the mismatch on Atiku’s WAEC Result, is due to a change of name which Atiku had sworn affidavit over.

He wrote on his Twitter handle:”The APC busybodies have been bombarding me with allegations of forg£ry against my Principal, ALHAJI ATIKU ABUBAKAR (GCON), which I immediately forwarded to him and here is his copious response: ‘Yes I used Sadiq Abubakar to sit for my WAEC and after passing my exams I went to swear an affidavit to say I am the same person as ATIKU Abubakar.

“I went to ABU as Atiku Abubakar and passed my Exams as Atiku Abubakar. Interviewed as Atiku Abubakar by the Federal Civil Service Commission and hired into the Customs Service as Atiku Abubakar. So where is forgery there?”
