Benue State Government Pledges Monthly Stipends To Corp Members After 800 Applied For Relocation

On Tuesday, 1st August, 2023, the Governor of Benue State, Rev Fr Hyacinth Alia, while addressing NYSC Batch B, Stream 1 corp member at their closing ceremony held at the orientation Camp in Wannune, Tarka Local Government Area of the state, revealed that corp members in the state will start receiving monthly stipends.

This is after 800 corp members deployed to serve in the state applied for redeployment to other states of their choice.

According to the governor, he is worried about the high rate of relocation application from corp members in the state, so he decided to place corp members on N15,000 monthly stipend, while medical doctors will be paid N100,000.

In his words;

 “Henceforth, each corps member posted to Benue  State will be paid N15,000 monthly by the state government, while the medical doctors will be paid N100,000 each,” the governor said.

 Before now corps members deployed to Benue State received nothing from the state government.

However, speaking on the new development, the State Coordinator of the NYSC, Mr Abe Ashumate, appreciated the state government in showing concern about Corp Members welfare.

He also urged corps members to cease from staying out late and visiting dangerous places with the aim of trying to socialize.
