Breaking: Governor Soludo faces 68million Naira budget scandal

The governor of Anambra state faces backlash from Nigerians online over  Anambra state House of Assembly approval of sixty eight million naira to the maintenance of the governor’s offices in Lagos and the federal capital territory, Abuja.

Governor Soludo is further of accused of neglecting education as the state only allocated the sum of 46 million naira to the maintenance of about 264 secondary schools across the state.

The discoveries were made in the Anambra state 2024 410.1 billion naira annual budget which the governor signed into law in Awka, the State capital on December 23rd, 2023.

On the contrary, governor Soludo had previously boasted about his administration genuine interest and investment in education sector of the state. He had stated that successes recorded by students from the state in international and local competitions, is due to his administration’s genuine investment in education which he said was yielding the expected results. However, the breakdown of the state’s 2024 budgetary allocation to education shows that the state government prioritizes its liaising offices in Lagos and Abuja over education.

There are also concerns on whether or not the governor would spend such an outrageous amount of money on mere maintenance of offices which are rarely used by the governor who is expected to run his administration from his home state, Anambra.
