Carterefe Reacts as ‘Machala’ Hits US Billboard

Fast-rising comedian and singer, Oderhohwo Joseph Efe, aka Carterefe, has reacted over his hit song ‘Machala’ made it to the Afrobeat song ranking on US Billboard.

The song, featuring, Berri Tiga is currently ranked 14 on the billboard right above Master KG’s ‘Jerusalema’ and Burna Boy’s ‘Ye’.

Elated Carterefe expressed his delight over the feat via his Twitter.

“BILLBOARD SHIT. I said it!!! Don’t play with grace!!! Wizkid fc for life!” He tweeted.

Prior to the release of the song late last month, Carterefe had prayed that the song enter US Billboard.

“I pray this song I’m about to drop on Friday enter billboard hot 100. Wizkid fc  4life” he had posted via a tweet dated July 26.

Fortunately for the singer, his prayer appeared to have been answered, hence his excitement.

Meanwhile, the US Billboard Afrobeat Chart is currently topped by Burna Boy with ‘Last Last”.

Sitting comfortably at the second place is Tems’ ‘Freemind’, while ‘Essence’ by Wizkid featuring Justin Bieber and Tems maintain the third position on the Billboard.

Ckay’s ‘Love Nwantintin’ stand fourth with Burna Boy and Ed Sheeran’s  ‘For My Hand’ holding on the fifth spot.

The Billboard U.S Afrobeat Chart started earlier this year in partnership with AfroNation.

Its first chart saw Ckay’s ‘Love Nwantintin’ earned the No.1 Spot which has now been overtaken by Burna Boy.

Nigerian music have established its presence across the globe  with several Nigerian artists now internationally recognized.

Aside the increased trend of featuring foreign artists, Nigerian artists now get featured in international movies with the latest being Tems who sang the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever trailer song alongside Kendrick Lamar.

The likes of Davido, Burna Boy, and Tiwa Savage have also featured international movies which further promotes Nigerian music as a brand.
