“FBI Won’t Give You Tinubu’s File”, David Hundeyin Tells Jeffrey Guterman, States Reason

A staunch American supporter of Peter Obi, Jeffrey Guterman disclosed through his Twitter handle that he has written to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to request the criminal records of Nigeria’s president-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu amid speculation about his forfeiting 460, 000 dollars to the US government in 1993.

“I just sent a request to the @FBI to release their file on Bola Tinubu based on the U.S. Freedom of Information Act”, Jeffrey Guterman tweeted alongside with a screenshot of his application to the FBI.

Interestingly, popular Nigerian investigative journalist, David Hundeyin who first published Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s drug money forfeiture trial in US in 1993, informed Jeffrey Guterman that his request to FBI is likely to be declined.

According to him, FBI will decline the application on the ground that Bola Ahmed Tinubu is still alive and should have a right to privacy

“Already did that last year. They’ll respond with a decline of request stating that the subject is still alive and has a “right to privacy.” David Hundeyin wrote.

He added that the FBI is however likely to change its stance if taken to court by someone or group he described as “heavyweight ”

“That’s what they always do until a heavyweight takes them to court and them their tone completely changes”.

In his response, Jeffery Guterman suggested contacting a law firm to approach US court to order FBI to release Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s file

“I should have known you already requested Tinubu’s file from the FBI, @DavidHundeyin. Perhaps I should contact @knightcolumbia to see if they’ll take this request to court? They helped many of us get unblocked by Trump through a court order. #NewNigeria”
