” Grant Us Permission To Take His Blood” Police Beg Court , Gives Reason

A chief Magistrate Court in Yaba, Lagos has ordered that  popular Nigerian singer, Seun Kuti remain in police custody until Monday, May 22, 2023 necessary for the Police Force to conclude investigation on his alleged assault of a police officer.

According to report, Seun Kuti has been tortured by the police and denied food as a way of getting even to his reported battery of a police officer.

Recall that the singer in a viral video, reportedly assaulted a police officer on Third Mainland bridge, Lagos. He is also accused of intentionally obstructing oncoming police van with his car. He was thereafter declared wanted by the Inspector general of police. Seun Kuti would later turn himself in for investigation and subsequent prosecution by the police

A report by Sahara Reporters has it that the Nigeria Police are bent on obtaining an incriminating evidence against Seun Kuti, hence, seeks the court to grant them permission to draw Seun’s blood for medical examination with the hope finding illicit substance.

The case has been adjourned until May 22 for mention, and the prosecutor was instructed to duplicate the case file and send a copy to the state director of public prosecutions for further advice.
