Man Nabbed For Posing As A LASTMA Officer To Tow Vehicles In Lagos

On Monday, 28th August, a man identified as, Adejumo, was nabbed for posing as an officer of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), to tow vehicles in Lagos.
According to the report gathered by The Reliant News, the suspect was caught after he used a van with a LASTMA sticker on it, to tow a black Acura MDX vehicle in the early hours of today in Somolu area of Lagos State.
The owner of the towed vehicle revealed that she packed her car by the road side and went to get something, some minutes later, she came out to see that her vehicle can’t be found.
She quickly raised alarm by lamenting and this triggered the residents to gather. while she was busy lamenting, they got information that a vehicle being towed was obstructed by a pole and the driver of the van ran away after suspicious residents raised the alarm.
However, confirming the incident, LASTMA’s Director, Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department, Adebayo Taofiq through a statement released on Monday night, revealed that the Suspect has been arrested and he is not an official of LASTMA.
He further urged the public to take note, and be vigilant of people who specialize on such act to mar the image of the agency.

“The driver of the towing vehicle was not an official of LASTMA. It is important to inform the general public, particularly the motoring public that the driver, Adejumo, has been apprehended and is currently at Pedro Police Station for further investigation.”
“The arrested towing van driver impersonated one of the LASTMA towing van operators with a fake identity card and fake LASTMA tow franchisee’s sticker.” He said.
