Naira Marley, Sam Larry File N40M Suit Against Police, Magistrate

Amid the ongoing investigation on the death of Late singer, Mohbad. Nigerian singer, Abdulazeez Fashola, popularly known as, ‘Naira Marley’, and his friend, Samson Eletu, also known as, ‘Sam Larry’, recently filed a law suit against the Nigerian police and the magistrate over their detention.
In the filed suit before the Federal High Court in Lagos, Naira Marley and Sam Larry through their legal representative, Mr Olalekan Ojo (SAN), demands N20m damages from the defendants ( the police and magistrate), as compensation over their detention.
Their legal representative, Mr Olalekan Ojo (SAN), urged the court to declare the detention of his two clients at the Homicide Section of the Lagos State Police Command, Panti, Yaba, as violation of their human rights. Seeking that the court should order the release of the two.
Recall that after the sudden demise of Mohbad, Naira Marley and Sam Larry was arrested between 3rd and 4th October, as Suspects, due to the videos and allegations online.
On the 4th October, the Commissioner of Police asked the Magistrates’ Court for an order to remand the two suspects for 30 days, but the Chief Magistrate, Adeola Olatunbosun only gave order that they should be remaded for 21 days in police custody.
The law suit is stating that the given 21 days lapsed on 26th October, order has not been renewed and the Suspects are still being detained by the police.
