Osun Poly Rector Suspended Over Embezzlement, Abuse Of Office

Months after being appointed as the Rector of the Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, by the state government. Dr Tajudeen Odetayo, has been suspended over abuse of office and embezzlement of institution fund.

According to report, Odetayo was alleged to be involved in misappropriation of fund, corruption and abuse of power vested on him in his capacity as the head of the institution.

In a copy of suspension letter by the state government, dated 11th July, 2023, it partly reads;

“You are hereby suspended as the Rector of Osun State Polytechnic, the sequel to the strong allegations of financial recklessness, corruption, misappropriation of fund, abuse of office among others.

“You are to proceed on suspension immediately, while the investigation into the allegations leveled against you commences soon.”

However, the state government headed by Governor Ademola Adeleke has appointed Mr Kehinde Alabi, who was a lecturer in the Department of General Studies at the Polytechnic, as Acting Rector of the institution.

This was made known and confirmed after he received a letter from the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education of the state.
