“Shame on you for your poor job and for inflicting pain on the Igbos”, Dave Umahi tells a road contractor (Video)
Former governor of Ebonyi state and current minister of works, Dave Umahi has berated an unnamed road constructor for poor execution of road project in the southeastern part of Nigeria.
The angry minister did not mince his words in berating the road contractor for his poor job. Dave Umahi accused the contractor of inflicting pain on the people of southeast. He also pointed out that 5km of the road the contractor claim to have executed, has worn out.
In his attempt to defend himself, the contractor explained that the wearing out of some part of the road constructed by his firm is due to the heavy vehicles plying the route. He stated that the design for the road is that such heavy vehicles should not make use of it.
His statement infuriated the minister who ordered him to seek partnership with another road construction firm so as to be able to meet the required standard. He thereafter suggested that the contractor should be ashamed of himself over the manner his firm has handle the road construction. He pointed out that the contractor stands to refund the amount the Federal Government had paid to him if he fails to seek partnership as well as embrace the redesigning of the road project.
