Singer, Mayorkun Reveals Why He Hid His Mother’s Identity For Years

Popular Nigerian singer, Mayorkun in a recent chat with media personality, Taymesan, in his podcast ‘Tea With Tay’, shared the reason behind his decision to protect his mother’s identity from the public.

The Certified Loner (No Competition) crooner, revealed that while growing up, he and his brother, gannared unnecessary attention from people, who knew their mother was an actress.

In other to curb the attention from the public, while he was working his way to fame, he decided to keep her mother’s identity off his career, so he would know his real fan, from those who will love him because of his mother’s status.

The singer went further to narrate an incident, when his mother brought food for him in school, he tried all possible means to avoid people seeing him with her, because he doesn’t want much attention or special treatment from the public.

“I hated going somewhere and being treated differently, not because you like me but because I am Toyin Adewale’s son.

“Even in my university, people did not know she was my mother for four years. I was intentional about this.

“My mom brought food to me at school once, and a girl saw her. I quickly ran to where she was to get the items she came with just so no one else saw her.” He said.
