Three Students Of Ogun State Poly Die After Allegedly Eating Pasta

On Wednesday, 12th July, an applicant and two students of an Ogun State government owned institution, Gateway Polytechnic, Ode-Remo, Ogun State, died after allegedly having spaghetti as meal.

Though the reason behind their death haven’t been confirmed, but students in the same lodge with the victims revealed that they ate pasta, which many Suspect might have come in contact with poisonous substance.

The deceased persons were identified as , Odu Selen, an ND1 student of the Department of Mass Communication, Bakari Habbeb, an ND2 student of the Department of Pharmaceutical Technology and an Applicant of the institution for 23/24 academic session.

Addressing the issue, the SUG President, Olatunji Idowu Alexander through the PRO affirmed that the incident took place and investigation is going on to ascertain the cause of their death.

 However, the spokesperson of Ogun State Police Command, ASP Oluwole Folashade, stated that the command was not informed about the incident.

He further stated that the police will investigate the issue before addressing the public about their findings.

In his words;
 
“I’m not aware of this incident. However, I can find out about it if you can give me the date of the incident, please. Let me enquire about it, I’ll get back to you soon,” He said.

The management of the institution has postponed the second-semester examination which was scheduled to start on Monday, 17th July, to July 19th, due to the incident.
