Timo Werner Leaves Chelsea Permanently

German international, Timo Werner has left Chelsea FC on permanent basis following the completion of £25m return to Red Bull Leipzig.

Werner fell out of favor with Thomas Tuchel’s side following an unimpressive display last season, recording 11 goals across 37 appearances.

With Chelsea’s signature of Raheem Sterling alongside the presence of Kai Havertz, Mason Mount, Callum Hudson-Odoi, and Hakim Ziyech, Werner’s chance of a starting place appeared slim, hence the return to his old club.

Unfortunately, Chelsea had to bear the loss in the return deal worth £25m as against the £45m the blues coughed out to earn his signature from RB Leipzig during the 2the summer transfer.

Meanwhile, Werner had earlier bade an emotional farewell to the Blues via his Instagram handle, appreciating the fans for their support while lauding the accomplishments he had with the club.

“Dear Blues, today marks the end of my journey with @chelseafc. I am incredibly grateful for the time I spent at this special club.

“At this point, I would like to express my appreciation for my teammates, the coaches & staffs, and especially for you, the special supporters of Chelsea Football Club.

“I felt so much love and support throughout the last two years and I will never forget how you guys stood behind me in good and in challenging times!

“We lifted trophies like the Champions League together and I will always remember the song you wrote and chanted for me.

“I’m already looking forward to hopefully playing at Stamford Bridge again one day!” He wrote.

A couple of Chelsea players like Ben Chilwell, Reece James, Hudson-Odoi, and fellow countryman, Kai Havertz, wished the German player the best.

Timo Werner’s two years stints at the Bridge saw him won the Champions League trophy and FIFA Club World Cup.
