WATCH VIDEO: Residents Jubilate As Police Intercept Jewelry Store ShopLifters In Imo
On Saturday, 29th July, 2023, a video emerged online showing how men of Nigeria Police force Imo State command, intercepted some shoplifters robbing a jewelry shop in Ikeneagbu area of the state.
Addressing the press on the incident, spokesperson of the command, ASP Henry Okoye, revealed that the accosted robbers were seven men. They arrived the scene in a white Hilux with covered plate number, armed with sophisticated weapons and dressed up in military uniform.
While carrying out the robbery, some men of Nigerian Police force intercepted them, after bullet exchange at the scene, one of them was killed, two arrested and others managed to escape.
In his words;
“On the receipt of this information, the Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Ahmed Barde, psc(+), promptly mobilized the Command’s Tactical team and personally led the operatives to the scene”.
“On sighting police operatives, the hoodlums opened fire but were overwhelmed by the dexterity showcased by the gallant operatives who professionally maneuvered into vintage position and return fire which forced the hoodlums to succumb to their superior fire power.”
“In the gun duel that ensued, one of the hoodlum was neutralized, two were arrested while others escaped with various degrees of gunshot injuries.” He said.”
He further revealed that due to the immediate response by the police, non of the shop owners or customers were hurt.
Weapons recovered from robbers includes; a white helix with reg. no BRR 586 XA, Eight (8) rounds of live cartridges, Two (2) pump action guns, Four (4) locally made pistol, one (1) expanded cartridges, Jewelries valued millions of naira, Two military under polo, Two special forces t-shirts, and Face Mask.
The Commissioner of Police eulogized
the operatives for their swift response and urged Imo residents to work closely with the police to curb such crime in the state.
