What The G-5 Governors Requested From President Bola Tinubu Revealed
The five members of the defunct G-5 Governors comprising former governor of Rivers State and now minister for Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike; former governor of Abia state, Okezie Ikpeazu; former governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom; former governor of Enugu State, Ifeanyi Gburugburu; and current governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde regrouped yesterday in Abuja for a meeting with president Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
It was their second collective visit to Aso Rock since president Bola Ahmed Tinubu came to power in May 29th, 2023.
According to a source who desires his identity anonymous, the G-5 regrouped in Wike’s Abuja home before heading to the Aso Rock to meet with president Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The source claims that the G-5 requested the president to intervene is corruption charges against some ex-governors of the G-5 as well as to make provision on how three of the G-5 who are without any political appointment, can be accommodated in Tinubu’s administration.
The source stated that the request is aimed at sustaining the political relevance of the three former governors in the respective States.
“Exact details of what was discussed isn’t available to me at the moment, but from discussions held during the initial meeting at Wike’s residence, it was all about finding accommodation for the former governors in the scheme of things and of course, how they can work together”, the source stated
