Leicester City forward, Kelechi Iheanacho has reportedly clashed with Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro ahead of Nigeria’s semi-final match with South Africa at the ongoing 2023 African Cup of Nations in Cote D’Ivoire.

Kelechi Iheanacho was requested by CAF to appear alongside with Jose Peseiro at the CAF press conference; however, the player failed to show up at the press conference but was instead replaced by Ola Aina.

Recall that Jose Peseiro had stated that Kelechi Iheanacho’s lack of playing minutes at the African Cup of Nations is due to his arriving to the Super Eagles camp with injury. However, it appears that Kelechi Iheanacho lack of playing time is due to Jose Peseiro’s tactics rather than Kelechi being injured.

Kelechi Iheanacho and Terem Moffi, Ahmed Musa, Bruno Onyemaechi are members of the super Eagles squad who are yet play a single minute at the ongoing AFCON.

Hence, Kelechi Iheanacho’s refusal to appear at the CAF press conference is construed as an expression of his dissatisfaction with the coach as well as necessary for him not to express his ill-feeling.
