Portuguese football coach, Jose Peseiro who guided the Super Eagles of Nigeria to a second place finish at the just concluded 2023 African Cup of Nations tournament in Cote D’Ivoire, is set to dump Nigeria for Algerian national football team.

According to DZ Foot, the Algerian FA are keen about Jose Peseiro taking over their national football team ahead of the 2025 African Cup of Nations in Egypt and world cup qualifier matches.

Jose Peseiro’s contract with Nigeria’s football federation is said to have technically ended following the conclusion of the AFCON tournament in Cote D’Ivoire. The Nigeria football federation is said to be contemplating extending his contract despite complaints from some Super Eagles Players about his football style which they said is too defensive.

Algeria’s inability to qualify for the round of sixteen in the 2023 AFCON from a group that comprised Cameroon Mauritius, and Gambia, is the major reason they seek a new gaffer to be at the helm of their national football team and Jose Peseiro emerged one of the leading names.
